At the gazebo:

The angels that have been assigned to the top were walking around like a promenade. (In Russia, the theatres have extremely large rooms that are dedicated to between-the-acts promenades. The theatregoers walk around this large room during these two intervals. They talk quietly and look at one another.) The angels on top were walking around quietly and observing us and one another, just as those in a promenade. It seemed like a very gentle and soothing activity… pleasant might be a word to describe this quiet stroll through the trees.
