July 18, 2006 – Arise, Shine

July 18, 2006: Tuesday

As we were walking up to the gazebo, Albert said suddenly: “Darkness is covering the earth.”

“That’s amazing,” I said.

“Well, it is,” he continued. “Don’t you agree?”

“Yes,” I somewhat laughed. “I only said that because when I arose this morning, I began saying: ‘Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. For behold, darkness will cover the earth and deep darkness the peoples; but the Lord will rise upon you, and His glory will appear to you.’ Except when I said it, I could not remember the last few words. Therefore I had to look it up. It’s Isaiah 60:1-2. I actually copied those verses and have them with me to read to you and to pray to the Lord when we reach the gazebo.”

When we reached the gazebo, I pulled out the two copied verses from Isaiah and we proclaimed them:

                           “Arise, shine, for our light has come,

                           and the glory of the Lord has risen upon us.

                           For behold, darkness will cover the earth,

                           and deep darkness the peoples;

                           But the Lord will rise upon us

                           and His glory will appear upon us.”

We felt that the Lord gave parts of these verses to both of us in order to encourage us. They are a promise, and we received this promise with a “yeah” and an “amen”.
