BONES OF THE ENEMY

BONES OF THE ENEMY

Among the many lessons we have been shown during these times, there is one that has been especially helpful. Unless you have been sound asleep, you have seen down to the bones of the enemy. It is as though he doesn’t care if he reveals his wicked plans. He seems that sure of success.

For instance, in America now, there are those who openly say that no matter the outcome of our election, they will not let the winner into office unless it is their party. How bold, how arrogant, how brazenly full of pride is this?

It is not that all of this is new. It is just that the Lord has pulled back the curtain to let us see. But are we too overstimulated with shock to act as a deterrent?

The human race can be overly stimulated, you know. We can be bashed and bashed so many times that our only response is trying to keep ourselves sane. Also, we can be tricked by using Christian language to support false objectives.

It is as though this nation is going through some sort of mind-altering programming, and now, the enemy’s plans are openly broadcast right in front of us. Is our response to only stand and watch? It is as though we are frozen in place with only our eyes still moving; we see, but we are unable to counter the corruption we see playing out in front of us.

A few are shouting and waving for us to STOP and CAREFULLY look; but most of us stand frozen in the perplexity.

I think that part of the reason for this is the fact that we are Christians. Our minds and hearts are set above. We want to be good citizens – living quiet, righteous lives – so that dealing with the enemy’s corrupt domain or trying to reform that domain seems to be a bottomless pit of misery.

We are locked into a conundrum. How do we deal with a corrupt society without allowing the nation’s “cleanup” to consume our hearts and minds with worldly reforms, so that we fall back into the “flesh.”

I of course, do not have the answer to this particular one of life’s puzzles. It is not something we can learn like brushing our teeth, so that the act becomes automatic like a morning routine. We are in advanced spiritual training when it comes to conundrums.

Fortunately, we have a glorious role model: Jesus. But which Jesus do we follow: the Jesus who turned over the tables of the money exchangers on the porch of the temple, or the Jesus that went to the cross?

Fortunately, again, we not only have a role model, but we have a “Guide”: the Holy Spirit. Conundrums necessitate the careful following of the Holy Spirit. We must not only listen; we must be flexible enough to move and change with the whisper of His breath.

As uncomfortable as conundrums are, they are – in fact – advanced training in carefully following our God. I am sure that soldiers in boot camp do not speak of the training challenges given to them as: “Gee, wasn’t that fun.” But by being willing to train through these challenges, they are readied for battle.

Well, we are “smack – dab” in the fight of our lives. Let us hope we take advantage of the training being offered to us. We are seeing down to the bones of the enemy for a reason. But only God can show each one of us what that reason is and only God can tell each one of us how He wants us to respond.

You see, the main “thing” going on right now is not what the devil is playing out in front of us, it is whether we are growing and responding to God Almighty as He wishes us to respond.

We may be seeing the corruption of the enemy “right down to his bones, “but I pray that all of heaven witnesses God’s children “taking a stand “with backbones of steel.
